The purpose of the Shadow Company Research & Development Detachment (R&DD) is to provide a comprehensive evaluation of any new title that is being considered for offical SC Regiment status.

The evalution includes initial research of a potential new title, sometimes months before official release; hands-on testing of in-game mechanics and systems through demos and betas by Community leaders and members; initial Recruitment (both internal and external); Stage 1 structured testing within a R&DD Squad once the title is officially released and a final evaluation/recommendation panel discussion.

All new titles will be required to move through the R&DD evaluation process prior to being instituted as an official SC Gaming Regiment regardless of console. The only titles that can forgo R&DD evaluation are sequel titles of active Regiments or Regiments that have not been disbanded longer than twelve months. If a title is available on both PS3 and Xbox 360 it need not be fully evaluated on both consoles but no title will advance to full Regiment status until it can field two Squads of at least six members each (including Squad Staff) for that console.

Chain of Command

The R&DD's offical standing, within the Community structure, is as a direct arm of Shadow Company Command (SCC) and its Director will be a SCC member or their offical designee. All other positions within the R&DD are fluid and will change based on the number of prospective titles and the various stages of evaluation that they are in.

R&DD Squads will be generic and hold only an alpha/numeric designation throughout the evaluation process. Members selected to act as Squad Staff during a title's evaluation process will be volunteers and should have a sincere interest in seeing the title's advance to full Regiment status. R&DD Squad Staff will receive no offical promotion (if applicable) until the title passes the final phase of evaluation and is designated as an official SC Gaming Regiment. All Squad Staff volunteers should possess the necessary leadership aptitude but prior Community leadership experience is not required.

The R&DD will enlist the help of and work closely with members of the Gaming and Support Divisions as needed during various stages of the evaluation process. While oversight of prospective new titles falls under the domain of the R&DD, no title will be able to reach full Regiment status without the assistance of each Community element.

Failed or Aging Titles

The R&DD is for the development of new (or new to SC) titles only. It will not house Squads from failing or aging Regiments. Once a title has left the R&DD for full Regiment status is expected to sustain itself for as long as possible. So long as an already established Regiment can field at least one active Squad then it will continue to operate within the Regiment framework. When this community was originally founded a lot of focus was directed towards insuring that our personnel are of the utmost quality. The rules established reflected concepts or ideas that were prevailing 3+ years ago. What was true then is still true now. We expect the most responsible behavior from our members. We strive to maintain a certain level of acceptable order that all can agree upon given the nature of our gaming and our needs as a community.

Recent actions have taken place that have drawn significant attention as to whether or not actions and ensuing punishments are justifiable now compared to then. Because of this the SCC is formally reviewing the Rules and Regulations that this community has grown to know and accept. These actions are not meant to alienate us from our core principles. However, since we have grown as a community, as gamers, and on personal levels we need to address the old and update it with newer meaning and enforcement.

Changes are coming to insure that our members are treated with a formal standardization that we can all accept and agree upon.

SicariusAlpha has a lot of leadership experience and is highly motivated to get this new Regiment off the ground and up and running. I come to each and every member today with a some unfortunate news. Effective immediately the Special Operations Group (SOG) will be dissolved. With a heavy heart I take full responsibility for the lack of success. This concept which had great merit did not develop into what the Shadow Company Commanders expected. There is no direct fault at this issue except for my lack of situational awareness when it comes to Competitive Gaming. So with this defeat comes a very heavy lesson that the Competitive Gaming Squads and players will have to pay the price for. However, I will take what I have learned from this experience and help to develop something different that will be more successful in the future when the timing is right!

I apologize to all the Competitive Gamers out there who are or were affected.

  • A significant portion of our loyal members have requested that we bring this platform to this community.
  • Xbox Live offers distinct advantages for MP aspect assisting in communication where developers have failed.
  • Command Staff are now ready to try something new after three long wonderful years.

• Why only a Regiment?
  • Establishing a new platform within this community is tricky.
    • We do not want to have outsiders until we are set
    • We do not want to have a full blown Division until we see a number of interested personnel.
    • We believe this is the best route to take until we have all issues resolved utilizing minimal leadership change.
  • No outside recruitment for this platform will take place until all unknown issues are processed.
  • Regiment will offer our members a unique opportunity to transition while still enjoying Squad dynamics.

• How can I transition?
  • Regiment Commander will be formally established as of February 20th, 2012 and Squad creation will commence
  • Formal request through your current leadership for a transfer is necessary.

• Do I have to leave my current Squad?
  • Yes. Xbox 360 Regiment is considered just that... a Regiment. So unless your current Squad decides to relocate you will have to surrender your current PS3 responsibilities

  • As of now we are only offering COD MW3 as gaming title for Xbox 360 Platform. However, this will change in the future.

The new WC Squad will be the Vipers ST. Anyone interested in the joining a WC Squad can contact their COC and have them transfer you over to the Vipers.

The WC Squads will practice at Pacific Times (PST)so all practices will be held at 8pm PST (11pm EST), instead of being held at 5pm PST (8pm EST).

You don't have to be in WC to be in a WC Squad. If you live in the east or anywhere in the world, and these times suit you better then you are more than welcome to join the WC Squad.

Again please let your COC know if you want to be in the Vipers.

Looking back three years, one cannot help but acknowledge all that has changed, not just within the context of this Community but also within the lives of the people that it serves. Many members have come and gone with a special few who have returned once more. Still others have graduated high school or college, moved to another state or country, gotten engaged, gotten married or have welcomed a new child into their lives. A few have served their country in peace and in war and returned home safely to their families, their friends and their Community.

In the gaming world, three years is...well, it’s a lifetime. Few games last so long. Fewer Clans do either. Back in the Fall of 2008, many wondered if Shadow Company could last...six months, a year...certainly not more?! Yet here we are. In what has been touted as the “Year of 3’s”, with so many of our favorite titles releasing their third installments, Shadow Company itself turns three. The most exciting “3” of all to be sure. This achievement is not the result of the actions of a few key people but is due to the collective efforts of the hundreds of members, past and present, who dedicated themselves to the principles that our Community has always stood for. Respect, Integrity, Maturity, Loyalty, Teamwork and Friendship.

Through it all Shadow Company has remained. A subtle fixture in the lives of very special people...ever vigilant, ever mindful, prepared to serve and ready to emerge when called upon...From the Shadows.
